Operations research professional with over six years of combined airline industry and research experience in optimization, machine learning, and data analytics.
One of the earliest lessons I learned was how operations work, from helping in my father's business. I later started a small supply chain venture. It is no longer running, but it shaped my lasting interest in efficient, sustainable transportation and logistics systems.
After earning a B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, I joined Air Peace Limited, starting as a graduate trainee in engineering and maintenance. As a Reliability Engineer, I designed and implemented a Reliability Management System for data-driven decision-making, predictive maintenance, and monitoring of MTBF and MTBUR. I built fleet reliability dashboards for the Boeing and Embraer fleets, led quarterly reliability reviews with senior engineering leadership, and prepared the reliability analyses that supported the airline's ETOPS authorization for international operations. As a Material Planning Engineer, I planned aircraft parts availability for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
I am now a Ph.D. candidate in Industrial Engineering at FAMU–FSU College of Engineering, advised by Professor Yanshuo Sun. I collaborate with the operations research team of a major U.S. airline on long-term maintenance scheduling and station assignment, strategic capacity planning for maintenance facilities, and flight-dispatcher workforce planning. My study of maintenance scheduling and station assignment, published in Transportation Research Part E, received the 2026 Bronze Anna Valicek Medal from AGIFORS (Airline Group of the International Federation of Operational Research Societies).
What I bring is the combination of both worlds: an understanding of how airline operations actually run, and the mathematical programming, decomposition, and machine learning methods to improve them. These skills transfer to any large-scale scheduling, resource-allocation, or planning problem.
I founded GUHTAC, a free mentorship initiative that has supported more than 1,000 participants with graduate applications and data science skills. I enjoy reading and writing about new ideas, traveling, playing the keyboard, composing music, and officiating football matches.
